Our Story
Promotank has its roots in the Business Clinic of the American University in Central Asia, a leading US-accredited educational institution in the region. The Business Clinic was established in 2007 by a faculty-student team of Business Administration and MBA programs, led by Promotank’s founding director Azamat Akeleev. In 2009, Promotank was spun off as an independent for-profit company. Harnessing the energy and fresh perspectives of the new generation of local professionals, Promotank rapidly gained a strong reputation among its early clients.
Initial emphasis of Promotank’s projects has been on market research, media and communications work. Later on, with active encouragement of our clients, Promotank’s portfolio was expanded to include a broad range of services, including delivery of comprehensive development projects, capacity building programs and technical expertise.
In 2011, Promotank registered its non-profit arm, public foundation Promotank. The public foundation pioneered participatory, analytical and deliberative approaches to good governance, budget transparency and civic participation work in Kyrgyzstan, launching the first budget transparency portal Okmot.kg (“Government”.kg).
